January 9, 2009 marked a major turning point for the prayer
movement in Fredericksburg with the launch of the interdenominational
Fredericksburg Prayer Furnace and Mission Base.
Seven local leaders of prayer related ministries, drawn together
by a mutual recognition of a common vision and shared core values, felt led of the Lord to begin cooperating on a deeper level by forming an alliance in order for their respective ministries to realize a higher purpose together that could not be attained alone.
As the group continued in prayer together it became increasingly
evident that each respective ministry was to maintain their autonomy while working synergistically with the other ministries to fullfil a greater calling.
The fulfilment of this alliance required a substantial adjustment in lifestyle. Each ministry leader was responsible to raise their own support, commit to a significant amount of time serving in intercessory prayer in the prayer room and generally embrace the concept of a lifestyle of prayer.
